Task
Create a small scene in unreal engine 5 inspired by Dark Souls
Photogrammetry
For this project I wanted an excuse to try something new. I have done photogrammetry for many years however I had never used one with a drone to capture a large object such as a cliff. I went down to 3 cliffs bay in south wales for the day and flew my drone around capturing cliff faces. These cliffs were then turned into models which were used in the final project.
Inspiration and origin
This project started after I started playing Dark Souls Remastered for the first time. After reaching around the half way mark in the game you reach a location called Anor Londo which is seen in the photo on the right. I enjoyed this section of the game so much that I wanted to create my own version of it inside unreal engine.

Unreal Engine 5
Unreal was used as the work horse in this project. By using multiple addons i was able to quickly prototype an idea. unreal was used for lighting, white boxing, and general composition.

Reality Capture
I used Reality Capture to create the cliffs you can see in the background. This was done by flying a drone over real life cliffs not to far from me. By taking around 150 photos for each cliff I was able to create high quality 3D scanned assets for this project. Unfortunatly as they were only intended as background assets the fog does obscure some it making it harder to see.
